Manaslu Trek

Manasulu region has great natural beauty and of rich cultural heritage. One of the attraction and challenging destination of the Himalaya for the tourist. Nepal has always been source of great attraction for her mountain, landscapes, green valleys, lakes and rivers, forest, white waterfalls hill-sides, glaciers and endless series of terraces. Manasulu is the one of the best scenery of Nepal, less affected culture and traditions and less trekked region. It means still virgin region. It is close to Tibet boarder. This circuit is the jewel of Nepal, geographically spectacular and culturally fascinating region. Mt. Manasulu (8163m), eighth highest mountain in the world, is the prime attraction in this region. Except Manasulu, Boudha Himal, Himalchuli, Nagdi peak or peak 29and Larkya peak etc are center of attraction.
Manasulu region is located east of the Annapurna region and west of the Boudha and Ganesh Himal. You can extend this trek with Tsum valley (hidden and sacred), Rupina la and Annapurna circuit. Considered one of the challenging routes in Nepal Himalaya. The trek starts from the Baluwa or Sotikhola.Barpak, Laprak, Philim, Namrung, Shyo, Lho, Samagaon and Samdo villages are main attraction of settlement. Which are stone roofed Buddhist villages? Gurungs are dominant in the low land and Bhotyas, Thakuri are in the high land which is origin of Tibetan. Their culture, tradition and customs are similarity with Tibet. On the trek you can see Buddhism practicing people, so many Mani walls, Stupas chortens monasteries, monks and their monastic life style.Staying in very simple hotel and no more choice of food for somewhere.

Program of Trek

Day 1 Kathmandu - Baluwa (900m) by bus or private jeep with 9 hours scenery drive.

Day 2 Baluwa - Barpak (2050m) It is 6 hours level walk and ascend up to Barpak. It is super and  one of the big Gurung villages in the region. You can see the view of Ganesh Himal in the morning. Stupa, Gurung's houses and local culture and traditions are main attraction of this village.

Day 3 Barpak -Laprak (2000m) this is 6 hours up hill walk and down up to Laprak. Very nice view of greenery forest, pasture land etc.This village is also big and Gurung people dominated.

Day 4 Laprak - Khorla bensi (970m.)It takes 7 hours up and down to get Khorlabensi via Singla village. It is very nice walk in the village with view of landscape and terraces. Khorla bensi is situated on the bank of Budi Gandaki River.

Day 5 Khorla Bensi - Gagat (1370m.) This is the 5/6 hours walk to get Gagat. It is easy walk nd most of part is flat. After Tatopani you have to cross the Budigandaki River with suspension bridge. From Gagat you can enter the Manaslu conservation area. Your  special trek permit imposed from here.

Day 6 Jagat -Dyang (1860m.)This is around 6 hours walking ascend and flat up to Dyang Fallow the river and walk in the forest. You have to cross the suspension bridge in Gampul. On the way you can see stupa and maniwall.

Day 7 Dyang - Namrung (2680m.) Walk approximately 6/7 hours in the village and forest. Close to Namrung the trail is steep around one hour. This is nice Thakuri people village with Tibetan culture. Agriculture terraces, waterfalls are main attraction. You can see view  of Himalchuli and so many small peaks.

Day 8 Namrung -Lo Gaon (3180m.) Walk approximately 4 hours. It is very easy walk to get Lo. It is beautiful village with Tibetan culture. You can visit the monastery and around  the village after the lunch break. Chrotens, Stupa, agriculture field wooden and stone  roofed houses and monastery are main attraction to see. You will have beautiful view of
himalchuli and other small peaks.

Day 9 Lo Gaon - Samagaon (3517m.) This is approximately 4 hours walking to get Samagaon.At the beginning, twenty minutes down, cross the bridge and one and half hour ascend to Samagoan. This village is lies on the Lap of Manasulu. The houses are made of clay and stone. Very open and old village .You can see the Panoramic view
from here. You will have wonderful view of Manaslu (8163m.), Nagdi chuli (7879m),  Himalchuli (7893m) Rani peak (6693m). After Lunch you can visit around the village  and Kargyu chholing Monastery which is very old in this region.
Day 10 Sama Goan - Rest day this is day for acclimatization, you can do hiking around the village. There are so many places to do hiking.

Day 11 Sama Gaon - Samdo (38oom.) It is gently 4 hours walks. This is last village before Larkya la pass. Very small and typical village. This day is very easy and almost level walks with beautiful view of mountain. On the way you can see the moraine, glacier juniper and birch tree. People, culture and tradition s are similarity with Tibetan  Day 12 Samdo - Dharmashala (4490m.) It takes 4 hours walk. Gently descend to the river which s narrow and small. After cross the wooden bridge one way goes to boarder of Tibet   and another way goes to the Dharmashala. At the beginning It should little hard  because of altitude and ascend.

Day 13 Dharmashala -Larke Pass (5113m.) - Bhimthang (3890m.) It takes 8/9 hours. This day is very challenging day because of long day and high altitude. you could not feel comfortable walk on the trail because of dryness. The pass is The trek starts early in the morning between 4-5 pm. It takes 5 hours to get the pass.On the way you can see the around white mountains - Kang guru(6981m.) Himlung himal(7126m.), Annapurna II (7950m),Mansiri himal(7059m)Choeo Himal(6812m)Ratna chuli(6767m)Pungi Himal(6538m) Larkya Himal(6416m)and so many peaks. After the Pass if there is ice it will be difficult to descend. If you have crampon, rope Ice axe It will be to take it. 

Day 14 Bhimthang - Tilche(2300m.) It takes 5 hours flat and down. After pass you enter the Annapurna region which is one of the top ten destination of the world. You can see many tourist on the way who are doing Annapurna trek. Still you will have view of Manasulu.

Day 15 Tilche - Chyamche (1430m.) It is almost 5 hours trek to chyamche. To fallow the Mashyangdi river with greenery view.It is easy way almost flat and down.

Day 16 Chyamche - Nagdi.(920m.) This is 5/6 hours to get down. Before Bahun danda You have to ascend around forty minutes. Very beautiful valley.

Day 17 Nagdi - Kathmandu This is the last day of trek. This svalley is very nice. in the morning, You have to walk one hour flat than take our or local bus or jeep to return athmandu.6/7 hours drive you arrived in your hotel. On the way you can see the view of river and jungle.
