Nepal, though small in size (147181sq.km) has 870 different bird species which represents about 10 % of known species in the world. Nepal’s landscape ranges from Terai to the great Himalayas this is home to a large variety of birds, Nepal is heaven migratory birds. In winter we can see ducks from Siberia and in summer cuckoo from Africa, in winter they come here for favorable temperature and in summer for breeding purpose .riverine plains of Nepal are the main habitat of the migratory birds from as far Siberia, Indus Valley and Tibetan Himalayas.

1. Kathmandu valley, Taudaha , Bagmati river bank , Shivapuri National Park ( 2730m.) Phulchoki (2760m)
Duration: 3-4 days
Within the Kathmandu valley alone, over 500 species of birds have been recorded. Lesser racket-tailed drongo, Tibetan siskin and the spotted fork tail Mountain Hawk -eagle, kalij pheasant, spiny babbler, laughing thrushes Herons, Kingfishers ….

1. The Langtang National Park:
(Area of 1710 km ², Langtang region, Helambu - Goshaikund)
Best time: March to June -
Duration: 2 weeks
Langtang National Park was designated in 1976 and lies in the central Himalayan region of Nepal,Dhunche is head quarter of Langtang National park, about 7 hours drive from Kathmandu. More than 300 Species observed including blood pheasant, Satyr Tragopan, Red-throated Finch,kalij pheasant ,oriental Turtle Dove,Great barbet , brown fronted Woodpecker , ibis bill, Himalayan vulture
2) Trekking in the Annapurna conservation area (7629 km ²)
(474 species of birds have been recorded)
A. Marsyangdi & Kaligandaki valley (Round Annapurna trek)
Duration: - 15 days
Best time: - October to March
478 species of birds Observed in the Annapurna conservation including
Himalayan Snowcock, Greater Spotted Eagle , Himalayan Vulture , common Hoopoe, spotted Finch , etc. 6 species of Himalayan pheasants found in the conservation area of Annapurna This valley is a major migration route for cranes.
B. The trek of Annapurna Sanctuary (maximum altitude 4130 m)
Duration: - Two weeks
Best time - March, April, October, November
Observed species (478 species of birds in the Annapurna conservation) including Bulbulls, bullfinch, Himalayan Vulture,Black Vulture, Flycatchers. Minivets, crimson sunbird,Eurasian Griffon.

Chitwan National Park is the first national park in Nepal. it was established in 1973 and granted the status of a World Heritage Site in 1984. It covers an area of 932 km2 and is located in the south of Nepal. It's rich natural area in the Terai, The sub tropical part of Nepal .There is dense tropical forests, grasslands, rivers, and lakes, which provides a multitude of habitats for birds. Chitwan gets a large amount of bird watchers every year.Over 545 species of birds have been recorded in the park including black Yuhina , swamp frncolin, the Bengal florican, the grey-crowned prinia and numerous species of grass warblers, Brahminy ducks , goosanders, Spotted Eagle, Eastern Imperial Eagle and Pallas's Fish-eagle, common peacock. junglefowl, parakeets, sunbirds, woodpeckers, green pigeons.
2. Koshi Tappu
Duration: 3-4 days
Best time: from October to March
Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is a protected area in the Terai of eastern Nepal covering 175 km2. It was established in 1976.Koshi tappu is paradise for Migrated birds and home to wild water buffalo.485 species of birds has been recorded including Watercock,Swamp Francolin, Indian nightjar, Dusky eagleowl, Black-headed cuckooshrike, Whitetailed stonechat, Striated grassbird, Large adjutant stork,Pallas’s fish eagle, Common golden-eye, bengal floricans, Comb Duck, Falcated Duck, Spot-billed Duck, Cotton Pigmy Goose, White-tailed Eagle, Lesser Kestrel, Bristle Grassbird,.
